Mathy Vanbuel, Director
With a background in media, Mathy worked for the Audiovisuele Dienst in Katholieke Universiteit Leuven for about 15 years as Production Manager where he was responsible for the production of all internal and external educational multimedia productions. He was also responsible for a number of Educational Technology R&D projects - some European Commission sponsored – such as BIC and Savie. From November 1997 until December 1998 he was Associate Director for Ecotec Research and Consultancy with particular responsibility for European Commission supported projects and contracts relating to the application of ITC. From December 2004 on, he is also visiting Professor for the KHLim at the Interfaculty in Maastricht, lecturing in Multimedia Management.
His skills are:
- Production skills including planning, budgeting and implementation relating to all kinds of educational multimedia products from broadcast quality television programmes to CD-Roms and web sites and including print materials. Experience primarily in the education and arts and culture sectors.
- Project management including administration and co-ordination of ICT and Educational Technology Projects
- Research particularly related to educational technology, ICT and technology supported learning
- Teaching and training in ICT and technology supported learning
- Multilingual Dutch, English, French, Italian and German: all high level working standard including writing skills
- Project evaluation with particular experience within the Information Society Technologies, Minerva and eLearning Programmes of the European Commission as well as in various national programmes and Initiatives: JISC (UK), Campus Virtuel (FR), HEA (IE).
- Consultant to various development agencies (DFID, WorldBank) on the use of ICT for education in developing countries.
